VALE: MICK STOTT

It is with great sadness that Karting Australia acknowledges the passing of Australian Karting Association Life Member Mick Stott, who passed away on Saturday July 4, 2026.

Mick dedicated more than five decades of service to Australian karting after first becoming involved in the sport in 1971 as both a competitor and official. His passion for karting, and in particular the safety of everyone involved, saw him serve as the Australian Karting Association’s National Track Safety Coordinator for 12 years.

Throughout his time in the role, Mick was instrumental in improving safety standards at karting circuits across Australia. His commitment was driven by a simple philosophy: to ensure every competitor had the opportunity to return home safely after every event.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the sport, Mick was awarded Life Membership of the Australian Karting Association in 2011. He was also a proud Life Member of the Australian Karting Association South Australia.

Mick’s knowledge, dedication and willingness to share his experience earned him the respect of competitors, officials and volunteers across the country. His contribution to Australian karting has left a lasting legacy that will continue to benefit the sport for generations to come.

Karting Australia extends its sincere condolences to Sue, the Stott family and Mick’s many friends during this difficult time.

Mick’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, commencing at 1:30pm, at Taylor & Forgie Funeral Directors, 98 Adelaide Road, Gawler South, South Australia.
