TaG Light and Heavy to run in Victorian Karting Series

Victorian Karting Series Co-ordinator Dominic Albanese has confirmed the Sportsman 125 Light and Heavy categories will be replaced by TaG 125 Light and Heavy across the four round series in 2013.

The TaG 125 categories will therefore run as per the 2013 AKA Manual on Dunlop SL6 tyres throughout the series. The Over 40s category will remain as Sportsman Over 40s and compete on the MG Red tyre.

“In the best interest of the sport, the host clubs have decided to ensure that the category runs as per the 2013 rulebook and the same as what is a National category on the Dunlop SL6 tyres,” said Albanese.

“From what we understand, the majority of the states have already replaced the state-based Sportsman categories with the national category as per the rulebook for their race meetings, we will be doing the same in the Victorian Karting Series. It is the only way we are going to ensure that we have a national approach towards the category.

“The team at Dunlop will also be providing some great random prizes throughout the year, including a set of tyres randomly drawn for both the Light and Heavy categories at each round.

“As the Over 40s isn’t a ‘rulebook’ category, we have left it at Sportsman Over 40s which allows those competitors to use their current MG Red tyres during the four rounds.”

The Victorian Karting Series kicks off at Geelong on February 16/17.
