2023 KARTING AUSTRALIA MANUAL RELEASED

Karting Australia has released the National Competition Rules for the ensuing 12 months with the publishing of the 2023 Karting Australia Manual.

A summary of the significant changes can be found below:

LICENCES

A new licence application process has been rewritten to take account of the new licensing system.
Only Junior and Senior C Grade Licence holders will be eligible to apply for B Grade Endorsements.
Current Cadet B Grade Licence Holders will retain their status, however, all other Cadet Licence Holders will hold a maximum of a C Grade Licence.
B Grade Junior Licence Holders will be eligible to compete in KA2 at ALL Levels (including AKC) providing they are in their 13th year or older.

TECHNICAL

Unless otherwise specified by KA or as may be specified in the homologation document of an engine, the only oils permitted are those approved by KA or specified in the current CIK-FIA list of homologated lubricants.

From 1 January 2023, Drivers competing in KA2 and KZ2 Classes at National Level Meetings must wear a CIK-FIA homologated driving suit during Competition.
- From 1 January 2024, Drivers competing in all National Level Meetings must wear a CIK-FIA homologated driving suit during Competition.

CLASS RULES

Cadet 12 Minimum weight increased by 2kg to 110kg
KA3 Junior to use an IAME Type 3 22mm Exhaust Restrictor
KA3 Junior includes a Light, Heavy and Championship Minimum Weight
KA3 Senior Minimum weights increased by 1kg
All levels of KA2 Competition require the Driver to have a minimum of a B Grade Licence
TaG 125 Minimum weights adjusted
Maxxis Super Sport Dry Weather tyre will become available to use in 4SS and 4SS Super Competition and Social karting. Both the Vega VAH and the Maxxis Super Sport will be permitted for use in Competition once the Maxxis Super Sport become available for purchase in Australia. ETA of the Maxxis Super Sport in Australia is February/March 2023

SOCIAL KARTING ACTIVITIES

Updated requirements with the introduction of a Karting Activity Controller (KAC) as a Level 5 Official.
The procedure for Social Karting Activity regulations has been updated to incorporate the introduction of the KOMP.
