Australia’s elite karting championship, the CIK Stars of Karting Series presented by Castrol EDGE, was featured on Network Ten’s leading talk show – The Project – this evening.

Tonight’s program will saw the Metro Whip Around have a pointer towards weekend’s fourth round of the series as a part of the Sydney cross in the hour-long program.

During the cross, three of drivers competed over a ‘mock race’ over an extremely short distance to keep in the theme of the show.

The Metro Whip around section of The Project is viewed by approximately 649,000 people across the country (see here for the video http://theprojecttv.com.au/video.htm?movideo_p=39696&movideo_m=210418).

Also this evening, Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway’s Managing Director Garry Holt was featured on SPEED TV’s (Channel 512 on Foxtel/Austar) Inside Speed program.

During this interview with host Grant Boyden, Holt spoke about this weekend’s round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series at his venue. Holt also announced a special Karting Showdown to be held alongside the V8 Supercar round at the adjacent Sydney Motorsport Park in August.

Practice for this weekend’s round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series was contested today with Cian Fothergill setting the pace in Pro Light (KF1).  The Kosmic Racing Australia driver set a fastest lap of 39.105 seconds.  Last round winner Adam Hughes was second fastest (39.174) closely followed by Joseph Mawson (39.185).

In the Pro Gearbox (KZ2) category it was Matthew Wall who set the pace in his BRM chassis with a scintillating 38.811 second circulation.  Wall’s time was narrowly ahead of that set by CRG’s Jason Pringle (38.876) and Kyle Ensbey (38.929).  Fourth fastest today was John Grother with a 38.946 second lap with Western Australian Daniel Currey rounding out the top five.

Thomas Randle and Joseph Burton-Harris were the pace setters in Pro Junior (KF3) with Randle narrowly finishing with the fastest time of the day.

Qualifying and three heat races will begin from 9am tomorrow with the finals to be contested on Sunday from 9am.

The Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway is located on Peter Brock Drive, Eastern Creek.

Admission is free for spectators.

Updates all across the weekend will be available on the Stars of Karting website www.starsofkarting.com.au, Twitter Feed (twitter.com/starsofkarting) and Facebook page (facebook.com/cikstarsofkarting)
