The growth of all “vintage” sports is growing, and karting is no exception.

As our older generations revive their past and enjoy the rebirth of the sport that made their younger lives so enjoyable, they are now being joined by the “not so old generation”, as some of our younger people are discovering that times were not so bad “back in the old days!”

This month, August 23 and 24, will see almost 50 members of the Australian Vintage Go Kart Association, who have already nominated, arrive in Grenfell for a Vintage Kart Demonstration that will be conducted at the Grenfell Karting Circuit.

They will arrive in Grenfell to enjoy some of the memories that help to keep them young, with a mix of karts that span from the very start of the sport in Australia, around the 1960s, up the latest allowed under the Vintage Karting Associations rules.

Nominations have been received from most Australian states, including Queensland, Tasmania, and a large contingent from Victoria all of whom will join with the NSW group for a weekend of enjoying and driving their “older” karts that they have spent so much time in restoring.

The Grenfell Karting Facility will come alive with the sight and sound of, what many will describe as “real karts”.

Among the karts will be the beautifully restored twin McCullock, dart kart that was originally raced by the Great Australian artist, “Pro Hart” now owned, and restored by Rod Williams – a Victorian enthusiast who is keen to show its potential on the track.

The public of Grenfell and the surrounding area are very welcome to come and see the range of karts that have been restored and they will see some very good examples of the sports past, in static displays, and watch as their owners sample the thrill of driving the historic Grenfell circuit.

The Grenfell Kart Club are hosts for this magic weekend of historical revival of the sport that flourished, and continues to grow, in the area.
