ITALIAN LEARNING EXPERIENCE CONTINUES FOR TYLER GREENBURY

Reigning Pro Gearbox (KZ2) Champion qualifies 13th at La Conca

Australian Tyler Greenbury has qualified 13th fastest during his European debut in the WSK Euro Series event at La Conca in Italy.

The 19 year-old is continually trying to come to grips with the high level of grip that is being produced on the famous Italian circuit.

“The grip level is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before and we’re working hard to get on top of the set-up, I’ve really been struggling with understeer,” said Greenbury.

“When you push wide you end up in the grip build up which causes the kart to bog down.”

With some significant changes to the set-up on his CRG kart prior to qualifying, Greenbury entered qualifying slightly nervous.

“After practice we made an axle change and adjusted the front end, which normally is pretty straight forward but one of the major hurdles over here is the communication to my mechanic who only speaks Italian,” said Greenbury.

“I headed out to qualifying a little nervous because I hadn’t really had much track time and it is a massive learning curve – nothing like driving in Australia.

“I got a few good laps in and the kart felt better, ending up 13th.  I was a little disappointed getting held up by a slowing kart on my fastest lap but the changes we made are better and we have made some more in that direction again for tomorrow so will see how racing goes.”

Greenbury’s fastest lap of 46.897 seconds was 0.672 behind that of polesitter Jordon Lennox-Lamb, who was closely followed (0.008 secs) by fellow Italian Riccardo Negro.

A pair of heat races and main events will be held on both Saturday and Sunday.
