Tynan sets sights higher and higher - From the Adelaide Advertiser

ADELAIDE racer Josh Tynan brushed aside inexperience and the history books to win the SA round of this year’s CIK Stars of Karting Championship at Bolivar.

ADELAIDE racer Josh Tynan brushed aside inexperience and the history books to win the SA round of this year’s CIK Stars of Karting Championship at Bolivar.

Tynan became the first SA driver to win a round of the national series since 2009.

“To come away with the win is just unreal,” Tynan said.

“After qualifying I set my sights on finishing inside the top five and then when I won the opening heat, my goal for the weekend moved towards making the podium. It was simply an unreal weekend, to be able to race in front of my family and friends against the best drivers from around Australia and then to win as well was just unbelievable.”

Tynan, who has risen through lower racing classes, lives just 15 minutes from Bolivar Raceway but has rarely competed at the venue.

“It’s my home track but I’ve only raced there once or twice in the past few years and realistically only raced a handful of major events over the past 12 months,” he said.

“With this win, I’m hoping to be able to put some deals together to make the most of the opportunity I’ve got.”
