Siblings take on Stars of Karting - From the Cairns Post

CAIRNS brothers William and Matthew Foyle will rub shoulders with the future of Australian motorsport this weekend at Sydney’s CIK Stars of Karting series, confident they can hold their own.

The siblings, 15 and 14 respectively, will be joined by recently-crowned Queensland champion Lydon Dodge for the fourth leg of go-karting’s most prominent series and are coming in with impressive results.

Jamie Whincup, Mark Winterbottom, Ryan Briscoe and Daniel Ricciardo are all graduates of the series.

‘‘This Stars of Karting series is pretty much the F1 of karting and these two can mix it with the best, there’s no reason they can’t,’’ Dodge said.

A father of two, Dodge was taking a more-casual approach to his racing this season, but the Foyle brothers are keen to see how far they can go in the sport.

‘‘I want to start racing F500s in speedway this year and yeah, I’ve love to race professionally one day,’’ William said.

‘‘It’s tough though, you need a combination of a lot of skill and a lot of money behind you.’’

Matthew will compete in the Pro Junior (KFJ), William Pro Light (KF) and Dodge in TAG125 class.

All three will be in action at the next local meet on August 11.
