SATURDAY NOTEBOOK FROM THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Ever changing weather at Monarto
The weather at this weekend’s South Australian championships has kept everyone on their toes.

During practice in the lead up to the event competitors battled with wet and dry conditions along with temperatures varying from 18 degrees through to over 30 degrees.

The conditions this morning through another ‘spanner in the works’ with light showers falling all throughout the morning for the second round of heat races.

DR Karts are multiplying
Since launching into Australia in May DR Karts have rapidly grown in presence and the number of DR Karts in attendance at this weekend’s South Australian championships is evidence of this.

South Australian agent David Brewer has been a great ambassador for the brand having sold almost a dozen karts over the past few months. This weekend Brewer has ensured there is a real ‘team’ feel among the drivers having them all work together while analysing their races through data and set-ups.

Engaging times
There appears to be something ‘engaging’ in Australian karting with several of the country’s top line drivers popping the big question over the past few months.

Scott Simpson started the flow by proposing to long-time girlfriend Aleisha, he was followed by three-time Australian Champion Jason Hryniuk, who made his recent trip to Japan memorable for more than one reason when he proposed to partner Jen.

Last weekend Matthew Wall made it three of Australia’s top karters to become engaged by dropping onto one knee to propose to Casey while at the Richard Petty Driving Experience in Las Vegas last Monday.

Battle of the Plumbers
While the frontrunners are bragging rights to gain a podium finish, there is an intense battle going on further back in the Clubman Heavy category between a pair of Plumbers.

After the second day of competition at the South Australian championships CMS Plumbing’s Craig Stauner has the upper hand on Peter Galvin from Galvin Plumbing with the pair to start from 11th and 12th for tomorrow’s championship finals.
