IAME on the front line for the KFJ World Title - From Remo Racing

Alessio Lorandi on top of the podium

In Sarno, on the first round of the KFJ World Championship, the 11 IAME engines powered drivers achieve excellent results: Alessio Lorandi conquered a great second place that now has him among the favorites for the title victory in Bahrain, and Brazilian driver Sereia also made the top 10. IAME drivers also did nicely in the KF Super Cup, with Joyner closing sixth and Viganò eighth.

KFJ World Championship
On a weekend marked by weather conditions that upset the plans of every team, the Sarno circuit was stage to the first round of the most important event of the year for the KFJ class: the World Championship.

Eleven IAME-powered competitors lined up for battle. In the end, the one who shines brightest is Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart/ Parilla): the Baby Race team driver is strong from the get-go, placing 3rd in the qualifying. In the heats Alessio then takes off on an unstoppable march (1st, 7th, and twice 2nd) until the last race, where he runs into a nasty surprise that makes him close 30th and relegates him to 15th at the penalties count. But this is not as bad as it seems, because Lorandi takes it all back by winning his pre-final and then reconfirms his great form in the final, by conquering the second step of the podium, less than a second behind the winner. The hunt for the title going into the final round is still wide open.

Brazilian driver Sereia (Birel/ Parilla) also does a great race. Unlike Lorandi, in the qualifying he struggles a bit and closes 32nd, but then he goes on to collect a 2nd place finish in one heat, making the top 10 in every other (except for one, where he closes 12th). He is standing 12th at the penalties count and again at the checkered flag of the pre-final, then in the final he leaps forward and closes 9th.

Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart/ Parilla) battles tooth and nail to defend himself on a weekend made of ups and downs: 4th fastest qualifier, he then proceeds unsteadily in the heats, so he is 18th going into his pre-final and here he closes 14th. Then, in the final he does a great climb from 28th on grid to 15th at the flag.
Matteo Raspatelli (Kosmic/ Parilla) also manages to qualify for the final thanks to great heat results, including a victory, and a good pre-final (10th); then in the final luck turns on him: 26th.

Just three spots ahead (23rd), Jules Bollier (Kosmic/ Parilla) also loses his luck, after putting in excellent heats (including two 5th places and one 3rd) and a good pre-final (9th).

International KF Super Cup
IAME engines are also on track for the CIK-FIA International KF Super Cup, powering 5 out of 26 drivers and accounting for close to 20% of motor choices. Tom Joyner (Zanardi/ Parilla) is one of the main players from start to end: 4th best qualifier, 6th, 7th and 8th in the heats and 11th in the pre-final, then author of a fantastic climb up to a 6th place finish in the final.

Matteo Viganò (Top Kart/ Parilla) was probably hoping in something better, considering that after qualifying 10th, he wins his first heat and closes 3rd in the last one. Unfortunately, however, he finishes the middle heat in 24th place, which means that he has to start the pre-final further behind than he could have. Here he finishes 7th, then in the final he loses one position and ends 8th.

Argentinian driver Eseban José Fernandez (Zanardi/ Parilla) is also author of a great weekend: only 25th in the qualifying, he then has a tough time in the heats and places 21st in the pre-final; but in the final he does a nice recovery up to 16th.

Russian driver Evgeniy Volkov (Tony Kart/ Parilla) closes the weekend right behind, after a fair run without any stunning keynotes.

Michal Grzyb (Birel/ Parilla) also puts up a remarkable defense in the heats (in one he closed 6th), then loses some shine in the pre-final (18th) and in the final (23rd).
