This month’s (July 26/27) penultimate round of the 2014 CIK Stars of Karting Championship presented by Castrol EDGE will provide the only opportunity this year for New South Wales karters to race as a part of the professional event in their own ‘back yard’.

With the event to be hosted by the Newcastle Kart Racing Club, there will be Australia’s elite drivers competing in the CIK Classes – KZ2, KF2 and KF3 – while drivers in the TAG 125 classes will be battling for the NSW State Championship.

All of the racing from the finals day will be shown live across the Internet, and will also be available on demand following the event.

Competitors in the TAG 125 classes will complete 66 racing laps, plus qualifying, across the two days of competition, the series provides competitors with a huge amount of track time.

For competitors in the Restricted 125 and Rookies classes, they will enjoy 56 and 52 racing laps respectively around the 1056-metre circuit.  The Restricted 125 class will have two weight divisions (Light and Heavy) that will compete on the circuit at the same time.  However, at the end of the weekend there is a presentation for both the Light and Heavy categories.

The drivers in the TAG 125 and Rookies classes will also be battling for some great prizes from Burson Auto Parts courtesy of Dunlop Kart Sport.

Both the Restricted 125 and Rookies classes don’t form part of the Friday practice day (entry fee is reduced compared to the other classes).  They will instead have two warm-up sessions on the Saturday morning ahead of qualifying and two heat races, a pre-final and final across the weekend.
