Hidden Valley revs up for kart race invasion – From ABC NT
More than a thousand people are expected to flock to the Top End to watch the Australian Karting Championships in Darwin next month.
The Northern Territory Government has spent more than $800,000 at the Hidden Valley Go-kart complex to secure the national event.
Australian Karting Champion Troy Hunt has travelled to Darwin to offer coaching sessions to help local participants prepare for the annual event.
He says the championships will put the Territory on the map for motor sport.
“They will have over 250 entries,” he said.
“I have actually heard … that it is going to be the biggest motor sport event held in Darwin, as far as competitors are concerned, so it’s pretty big.”
Chief Minister Paul Henderson says the event will be a showcase for Territory hospitality and motor sports.
