PLENTY OF ACTION ON PRE-FINAL DAY IN WARWICK

All pre-finals have now been completed at the Queensland Open Sprint Kart Championships in Warwick.

Pre-Final Results – Top Five

Junior Max
1.         Joseph Mawson
2.         Cameron Hill
3.         Pierce Lehane
4.         Joseph Burton-Harris
5.         Michael Stewart

Race Notes:
Polesitter Joseph Mawson got the jump off the start while Cameron Hill was shuffled out wide as the field raced through turn one for the 15-lap encounter.  Mawson opened up a slender lead in the before showing superior speed to edge away from the field for the win.  Hill recovered for second while Pierce Lehane got the better of Joseph Burton-Harris in the battle for third place.

Rotax Light
1.         Tyler Greenbury
2.         Josh de  Maio
3.         Luke Rochford
4.         Bradley Jenner
5.         James Macken

Race Notes:
Toowoomba driver Tyler Greenbury showed superior speed in the early laps to open a handy buffer over Josh De Maio and cruise to victory.  The battle for third pace was intense with Bradley Jenner, Luke Rochford, Dale Corbett and James Macken all running in close proximity to each other.

Rotax Heavy
1.         William Yarwood
2.         Brendan Nelson
3.         Kris Walton
4.         Lane Moore
5.         Ben McKinlay

Race Notes:
The top six runners of Brendan Nelson, Trent Moore, William Yarwood, Lane Moore, Kris Walton and Ben McKinlay diced for positions in the early running. Yarwood took over the lead on lap seven and when Nelson and Walton squabbled over second and third place it allowed the Exprit to open up a slight gap before going on to take the win.

Clubman Over 40s
1.         Remo Luciani
2.         Neville Honeychurch
3.         Bevan Garioch
4.         Paul Baxter
5.         Adam Bourke

Race Notes:
The two sparring partners of Remo Luciani and Bevan Garioch were joined by Neville Honeychurch to duke it out for the top three spots in the Clubman Over 40s pre-final.  In the end it was Luciani who took the win.

Junior Clubman
1.         Joseph Mawson
2.         Luke Marquis
3.         Brock Plumb
4.         Anton De Pasquale
5.         Mitchell Gee

Race Notes:
Joseph Mawson, Brock Plumb and Luke Marquis ran nose to tail for the second half of the pre-final in Junior Clubman.  Marquis surprised Plumb for second place on lap eight, and then surprised Mawson a lap later for the lead.  Marquis and Mawson then swapped the lead on a couple of occasions in the final few laps before the latter claimed the win.

Senior National Light
1.         Sean Butcher
2.         James Foster
3.         Ashley Quiddington
4.         Luke Caputo
5.         Jarryd Ebzery

Race Notes:
As he has been all weekend Sean Butcher dominated the pre-final in Senior National Light.  James Foster and Ashley Quiddington had a great battle for the minor placings.

Clubman Super Heavy
1. Bradley Moody
2. Scott Simpson
3. Ben McKinlay
4. John Rowley
5. Joshua Herne

Race Notes:
Scott Simpson and Bradley Moody enjoyed a spirited battle at the front of the field in the Clubman Super Heavy pre-final. Moody went on to claim the win in his CRG kart ahead of the FA Karts driven by Simpson and Ben McKinlay.

Leopard Heavy
1. Daniel Stein
2. Lucas Price
3. Kris Walton
4. Jason Faint
5. Patrick Mather

Race Notes:
Daniel Stein was simply too good for his opposition on his way to victory in the Leopard Light pre-final. The Exprit driver led home Lucas Price while Kris Walton and Jason Faint enjoyed a tight battle for third place.

Junior National Heavy
1. Anton de Pasquale
2. Jordan Boys
3. James Golding
4. Brock Plumb
5. Joshua Smith

Race Notes:
The leading trio of Anton de Pasquale, James Golding and Jordan Boys edged away from the field early while Brock Plumb was charging his way forward from his 14th starting position. Plumb, who failed to finish yesterday’s opening heat, finished on the back of the leading trio.

Clubman Light
1. Cian Fothergill
2. Ben Stewart
3. Tyler Greenbury
4. Chris Hays
5. Wayne Bourke

Race Notes:
The action came thick and fast in the Clubman Light pre-final with Tyler Greenbury, Cian Fothergill, Chris Hays, Ben Stewart and Brooke Topp battling it out at the front of the field. Unfortunately for Shayne Piper and Jason Burns their race ended in turn one mid race. After many lead changes Fothergill took the win.

1. Joshua Crossingham
2. Oliver Etter
3. Darren Harris
4. Luke Caputo
5. Jeremy landt

Race Notes:
It was a freight train of significant proportion in the Senior National Heavy pre-final. Joshua Crossingham led the freight train over the final few laps to snare pole position for tomorrow’s final.

Midgets
1. Cooper Murray
2. Chase Wooley
3. Thomas Bennett
4. Jordan Caruso
5. Declan Fraser

Race Notes:
The leading duo of Cooper Murray and Chase Wooley took advantage of a clear track ahead of them to distance themselves from the field. Following several lead changes throughout the race it was Cooper Murray who ended up claiming the win by 0.002 seconds. Thomas Bennett got the better of a battle with Jordan Caruso to claim third place.

5. Jake Klein

Race Notes:
Victorian Liam McLellan got the jump from pole position to open a small gap over the pack. Behind the leader Jordan Boys, Luke Marquis, Jake Klein, Thomas Randle and Stefan Stankovic worked together to close the gap and make it a six-kart pack at the front.

Leopard Light
1. Cian Fothergill
2. John Grother
3. Ben Stewart
4. Adam Mercer
5. Stephen Sheedy

Race Notes:
Pole sitter John Grother was swamped at the start while Cian Fothergill opened a handy buffer during the opening two laps. Behind the leader Grother, Ben Stewart and Kyle Ensbey had an intriguing battle for the minor positions. Ensbey’s race ended in turn one midway through the 15-lap journey.

2. Clinton Marcon
3. Remo Luciani
4. Brendan Nelson
5. Zeke Edwards

Race Notes:
The top four drivers battled closely in the pre-final for Clubman Heavy. Following a number of changes in position it was Harrington Doyle Racing’s James Greenwood who was victorious. After failing to finish the second heat, Zeke Edwards and Shane Price were the big two movers through to field to finish fifth and sixth.

1. Rhys Wooley
2. Jayden Ojeda
3. Jordan McGregor
4. Cody Gillis
5. Harrison Oddie

Race Notes:
The top four drivers raced nose to tail for the majority of the 15-lap journey before Rhys Wooley found himself in the lead as they came across the finish line after making the pass for the lead with two corners remaining.
