Fullwood dominates in new track record - From the NT News

DARWIN’S karting star Bryce Fullwood started the year in style over the weekend after comprehensively winning two classes at the Junior Top Gun event held in Melbourne.

Fullwood, who finished 2013 with a third placing at the Supernationals Las Vegas event in November, came into the race confident of a good result.

The event was split into two twilight meets on the Friday and Saturday night, each with trophies at the end of the night and points towards the overall weekend result.

In searing heat, Fullwood, 15, qualified first and won all the heats in the Junior Clubman class before coming unstuck in the final with a broken front sprocket and having to watch the rest of the race from the sidelines.

In the Junior Rotax class, Fullwood had a clean sweep, poling it for qualifying and winning all heats and the final by nearly two seconds, also setting a new lap record in the process.

On Saturday afternoon, the competition rose in intensity but Fullwood again qualified in pole position in the Junior Clubman category and proceeded to win all heats and the final, apart from Heat 2 where he came a close second.

In Junior Rotax, Fullwood qualified second before winning all heats and the final in convincing fashion.

Despite not finishing the Junior Clubman final on Friday night, Fullwood still managed to finish second in points for the weekend and won the Junior Rotax round.
