There will be live streaming of Sunday’s action, along with a preview show on Saturday night, on www.karting.net.au.

2014 Mike Kable Young Gun Award Winner Todd Hazelwood will be trackside at the Australian Kart Championship this weekend

South Australian Dunlop V8 Supercars Series driver Todd Hazelwood will share his local knowledge with one of Australia’s rising karting stars at Round Two of the Australian Kart Championship presented by Jayco and Castrol EDGE in Monarto this weekend.

Hazelwood will mentor rising star Declan Fraser who competes in the elite KF3 class as a part of the professional Harrington Doyle Racing Arow Karts outfit.

After cutting his teeth in the karting ranks by firstly becoming a National Champion on the dirt track and then starring across the country on the bitumen circuit Hazelwood has spent the past two years aboard a V8 Supercar.

The 19 year-old’s last competitive outing aboard a kart came in 2011 when he was victorious in the South Australian Championship at the Monarto venue.

“I’m really looking forward to helping young Declan Fraser from Harrington Doyle Racing this weekend. Declan is a great young kid and he has plenty of skills behind the wheel.  I’ve been watching his progress since he was in racing in Cadets, so to be part of his team is pretty special,” said Hazelwood.

“My job this weekend is all about helping out wherever and ensure Declan is provided with the best possible opportunity to succeed. Being able to mentor and work alongside junior drivers is something I really enjoy.

“It’s great to offer my knowledge and give something back to a sport that has provided so much for me in the past.

“The flowing Monarto circuit always provides good close racing and provides many challenges for the drivers. The circuit may seem simple but getting a good kart setup has always proven to be tricky as the grip goes down, hopefully some of my local knowledge will help.

“I’m really looking forward to growing my knowledge in karts and work alongside the Fraser family within Harrington Doyle Racing.”

Fraser will take to the circuit for the first time on Saturday where he will enjoy practice qualifying and a heat race throughout the day ahead of the finals on Sunday.

A total of 220 entries have been received across eight classes for this weekend’s second round of the Australian Kart Championship.

The event is being contested at the Monarto Kart Complex, which is located on Old Princess Highway, Monarto.  Admission for Spectators is free.
