DUNLOP ADDS FURTHER DEPTH TO AKC PRIZE POOL

The prize pool for the 2015 Australian Kart Championship presented by Jayco and Castrol EDGE has been further increased courtesy of support from Dunlop Kartsport.

Competitors in the KA12, KA Junior, KA1 and KA TaG classes, all of whom who race on Dunlop tyres, will be vying for more than $30,000 in prizes throughout the year.

Each of the drivers finishing on the podium in a round of the five-round Championship will be receive a set of Dunlop tyres.

“We see the Australian Kart Championship as a fantastic creation for the sport of karting, it offers Australian karting with a true professional image and something that we are proud to be a part of,” said Dunlop Kartsport’s Les May.

“Throughout the years we’ve tried to continually show that Dunlop Kartsport is here for the racer and by being able to provide more than $30,000 in prizes throughout the year is another example of this.

“Already this weekend the new-look Championship has proved to be popular everyone around the track at Port Melbourne would agree that the opening event has had a great vibe about it.”

The additional prize pool courtesy of the involvement by Dunlop Kartsport and their partner Kinchrome brings the total value of the Round and Championship prizes to $150,000 – the richest in Australian karting history.

The opening round of the Australian Kart Championship is being held this weekend in Melbourne with the finals being contested today.
