DD2 DAY FOR AUSTRALIA AT ROTAX WORLD FINALS

Jason Pringle and Damian Ward both won their heats this morning at the Rotax World Finals.

Jason started off grid two and lead from the very first corner opening up a very sizeable lead by the time the race was over, it was a very convincing performance and sent a clear signal to the other DD2 competitors that Jason was going to be a force in the finals tomorrow.

Ward also impressed with a win in his third and final heat. After running third for a few laps he made his way to the front and held on for a great win. Travis Millar also did not disappoint running a solid 8th in his heat to ensure himself a good starting position in tomorrows pre-final.

In Junior Max all three Aussies lost ground during their third heat compared to their starting position but the main thing was they all finished and that is a much better result than a DNF. All three Junior drivers have qualified for the finals now and there is still two long races to go tomorrow so anything can happen.

Senior Max was always going to be a tough assignment for the three Aussies, who all needed a strong heat this morning to avoid being relegated to the repecharge. Unfortunately it was not to be the case and all three drivers ended up in the repecharge. Troy Bretherton drove a smart race from grid 19 to finish fifth and earn himself a spot in tomorrows finals.

Steven Scoble and Kyle Ensby were not able to make it through, Ensby actually got into a transfer spot (up to 6th from grid 12) before crashing out while trying to pull of a big move passing two karts at the one time.

Tony Prendergast in DD2 Masters continues to improve each and every race and finished 15th from grid 20.

“We will make a few more changes to the kart overnight and hopefully we will find a tenth for tomorrow, they are long races and anything can happen” said Tony.
