More than a dozen Australian drivers have headed overseas to compete in two major events in Bahrain and America this weekend.

Melbourne’s Oscar Piastri and Gold Coaster Jack Doohan will be flying the Australian flag at the CIK-FIA World OK-Junior Championship in Bahrain while 11 drivers will be in action at the 20th SuperNationals in Las Vegas.

Both Piastri and Doohan will line up with the Ricky Flynn Motorsport for the World Championship that will see 97 drivers from all across the globe vying for the elusive crown.

The pair will be aiming to become the first Australian driver since 1995 to win the World Junior Championship when James Courtney was victorious.

Australian Champions David Sera and Brendan Nelson will lead the charge for the drivers from ‘Down Under’ in Las Vegas in the X30 Senior class. Sera, who secured his 18th National Championship in September, has finished runner-up on several occasions but the winner’s trophy has always eluded him in Vegas.

Nelson is competing in the event courtesy of his victory in the Australian Kart Championship which came with $5,000 of support to compete in the American event.

Western Australian Kip Foster is no stranger to victory lane in Vegas and will be one of the leading contenders in the X30 Masters class alongside fellow Aussie Kris Walton.

In the Junior ranks, Australian Kart Championship Runner-Up Harrison Hoey will be joined by fellow Queenslander Jac Preston and Melbourne teenagers Angelo Mouzouris and Christian Pancione on the grid.

Shamick Racing’s James Wharton will be the youngest Australian in action as he lines up in the Mini Swift class.
