Drew Ridge continued CRG Australia’s run of success at the Australian National Sprint Kart Championships in Newcastle last weekend.

The Sydney teenager was victorious in the fastest junior class in action – Junior Clubman, aboard his CRG Black Diamond.

Qualifying did not go as well as planned placing ninth however the team were satisfied that Drew’s race pace would be good enough. Drew worked his way forward throughout the heats before claiming the win in the pre-final to secure pole position for the 18-lap final.

Ridge slotted into second place at the start before showing superior speed mid race to take over the front running.

As the laps counted down the CRG driver edged away from his opposition before crossing the line one kart-length clear of his nearest rival at the chequered flag.

“Drew has been a long-time supporter of the CRG product and it has been fantastic to see his development over the last couple of years.  After some success at various events throughout New South Wales, it’s great to see him succeed at the National level,” said CRG Australia’s Darren King.

“This win is not just for Drew either, it is a victory that should be enjoyed by everyone in the CRG Australia team.  All throughout the weekend, everyone in the CRG team worked together to ensure each driver improved and moved closer to the front – all of our results are the outcome of a true team effort.”

The next event for the CRG Australia team is Round Two of the Castrol EDGE CIK Stars of Karting Championship at South Australia’s Bolivar Raceway on May 3/4.
