Australian champion kart racer beats cancer and launches new corporate kart hire venture

After overcoming some major life challenges including a recent battle with an aggressive form of Cancer, multiple Australian and State karting champion and well known kart industry identity, Gerry Brookes, will this weekend launch his new corporate kart hire company, Turn1 karts, with a general “arrive and drive” day at the Lismore kart club’s circuit.

Named after his well recognised motorsport companies, Turn1 karts boasts a brand new fleet of high performance corporate race karts.and specialize in Corporate race day experiences, group bookings, functions and special events including christmas and birthday parties etc.

“After 30 years competing in kart racing, and also visiting numerous kart hire facilities over the years, we decided that the corporate kart hire experience was lacking the true feel of what we as kart racers love so much, the fantastic handling and feel that few categories of motorsport can match”, said Gerry.

“Turn1‘s karts are full competiton sprint karts with performance 4-stroke engines that take corporate kart racing and hire karting to a new level, giving drivers a true taste of what kart racing is all about . You and your work colleagues or friends will be able to race professional karts on a competiton circuit under the guidance of experienced karting professionals. I’m sure we will also see many of our customers take up kart racing as a sport after the experience. As well as Lismore, we are operating at other popular circuits in South east Queensland and NSW”.

Many of you will be well aware of Gerry’s long history in the sport, which spans 30 years, including founding, designing and manufacturing the “Aurora Kart” range of chassis that was very successful winning many major events including taking Scott Auld to 2nd place at the 2002 World Rotax Finals in Malaysia, specialising in assisting and mentoring numerous drivers to success over the years with driving and chassis setup, most recently thru his “turn1 motorsport“ company and as a driver doing the odd appearance where most recently he dominated the Rotax o35’s winning the rotax nationals in ‘08 and ‘09 and every round of the Pro Tour he contested. Many would have also seen him in the 200 supers at Horsepower Heaven at Todd rd last year, just before his cancer operation, qualifying fastest in a 25 year old twin chassis with a pair of air cooled parillas onboard.

Turn1 karts will open for the first time this weekend at Lismore (November 13/14) from 9am through to 5pm and on selected Saturday’s & Sunday’s each month, plus extra days during School holiday periods. Turn1 karts will also be available for Corporate and Special events at others approved circuits by appointment.
