An all IAME Final Cup - From Remo Racing

The IAME engines play as protagonists in the WSK 2013 season’s final race. Two victories, one in KF with Ilott and one in KZ2 with Hajek, and a 2nd in the 60 Mini and 3rd in KFJ in addition.

Patrik Hajek

KZ2
Patrik Hajek (Praga/Parilla) is the absolute dominator of the WSK Final Cup. 3rd after the time qualifying, the Czech driver then finishes the heats with twice 1st and a 2nd, conquering the first line after the count of the penalties. The pre-final, even though raced by the IAME driver in the leading position, is a constant battle with Forè. The final is even more fought: the two drivers share the lead several times, but it will be an exceptional Hajeck to take the lead in the very last lap and cross the finish line in front of Forè, only by 1 tenth of a second. In Castelletto di Branduzzo, all spectators’ eyes are also on the Belgian Jonathan Thonon, at his debut with the Praga team and the IAME engines. A slow start for him with only the 8th place in the time qualifying. In the heats he recovers well up to the 5th place and in the pre-final, in a thrilling crescendo, he finishes 3rd. He slightly drops his performance in the final, where he finishes with an anyhow positive 7th position. Alexandre Arrue (Praga/Parilla) is also in the Top Ten. 12th in the time qualifying, he improves in the heats with the 8th place overall, confirmed also in the pre-final and he ends his race week-end with the 9th place in the final. Louis Bonsaudo (Pcr/Parilla) is the 4th out of the IAME drivers (out of 23 participants).

KF
All along the KF week-end, at the end of each important race, comes a IAME engine in front of all. Calum Ilott (Zanardi/Parilla), celebrating his comeback to IAME engines, scores the best lap in the time qualifying. Then the Englishman steps into some difficulties along the heats where he collects twice a 5th and a 7th . It is talented driver Matteo Viganò (Top Kart/Parilla), 6th in the time qualifying, to keep up the IAME colors in the central part of the meeting, achieving a victory, a 2nd and a 3rd placement in the heats and leading the classification after the count of the penalties.

Ilott recovers in the pre-final: started from the 6th place, he only takes 8 laps to take the lead to the finish line not only of this race, but then also of the final that he races with authority and in constant lead: a well-deserved victory. Viganò confirms his splendid shape with the 5th place in both the pre-final and the final. The two other IAME drivers at the start in the KF class are Giacomo Rossi (Zanardi/Parilla) and Karol Dabski (Praga/Parilla): the first one finishes 27th, gathering a lot of experience for the future; the second one after facing some difficulties in the heats (24th) and in the pre-final, recovers very well in the final with the 14th place.

Alessio Lorandi

KF-Junior
Many as 11, out of 67, are the IAME drivers in KFJ. Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart/Parilla) is the absolute protagonist of the week-end. After the 4th place in the time qualifying, the Baby Race driver collects a 2nd place and three victories, securing the pole position in his pre-final, totally dominating also this race, leading by more than 11 seconds on the closest follower. Victory though is not enough for Lorandi to secure the start from the pole also in the final: his pre-final is the first in the schedule and is raced on a humid track. Lorandi’s total time is then higher than the best from the driver leading the second pre-final that is raced with better conditions. This situation forces the Italian driver to stay with the second place, the one on the “bad” side of the track. Such a situation compromises the final result of the race as during the unfortunate first lap of the race, Lorandi slips down of some positions and even though keeping up all race long, he can only demonstrate his value finishing in third position.

Opposite story for his brother Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart/Parilla): difficulties in the time qualifying (57th) and in the heats, where his best result is a 12th. In the pre-final Leonardo gets wild and recovers up to the 6th place. He will then finish the final in 12th position. Nikita Sitnikov (Tony Kart/Parilla) is also one of the fastest: after the 14th place in the time qualifying, he races good heats resulting 9th in the count of the penalties. The Russian driver races then a very good pre-final finishing 3rd. In the final then he slips back to the 13th position.
Out of the 11 IAME drivers at the start, 6 reach the final. Beside those already mentioned, the performance of David Beckmann (Zanardi/Parilla) is worth of mention as he is able to finish one time 3rd in the heats and end the race week end in 14th place after a splendid recover from the second to last row. With some delay also come Sato Marino (Praga/Parilla) and Shlom Yan Leon (Tony Kart/Parilla).

Among the drivers not qualified for the final, is also worth to mention Gabriel Sereia (Birel/Parilla), first of those not qualified, and Lorenzo Colombo and Giuliano Alesi (bothTony Kart/Parilla), out of the final by a blink of an eye.

60 Mini
Among the youngest drivers of the Final Cup, Leonardo Marseglia (Top Kart/Parilla) confirms his talent. He has some difficulties in the beginning, compared to his standards, with the 7th place in the time qualifying, followed by an 8th and a 10th in the first two heats. In the final heat he recovers well with a 2nd place that puts him in 10th position after the count of the penalties. The pre-final is an amazing race: the IAME driver climbs to the 3rd position. Same show in the final: with a close fight till the very last lap, the leadership taken for a while one lap before the finish line, he then finishes 2nd under the chequered flag, only 3 tenths of a second far from the leader. Good performance also for Lindh Rasmus (Praga/Parilla): 4th in the time qualifying, the Czech wins the first two heats and comes 6th in the last one, taking the first row of the starting line of the pre-final. Too bad in the warm up lap he steps into the trick of a humid track and spins. He is not able to regain his position in time and is forced to a recovery that finishes with the 9th place. In the final he gains three position more and ends 6th, a position that doesn’t justice to his commitment, also considering his best lap in the race!

Out of the 6 IAME drivers in the 60 Mini, Nicola Bertoncello (Exprit/Parilla) is also in the final, finishing 22nd after a good comeback.
